Deborah's role with Te Uri o Hau involves overseeing the entities of the Settlement Trust that includes Environs Holdings, Tangata Development, TUOH Developments (Housing) and TUOH Charitable Trust. These entities are charged with providing delivery of service to the cultural, social, economic and environmental issues occurring within the rohe of Te Uri o Hau.
Much of Deborah's energy is focused around lifting the socio economic status for the beneficiaries in the rohe in effect by reducing the Deprivation Index levels for example, by providing employment, further education and safe housing opportunities etc. There is also a great amount of resources and effort being placed into preserving and protecting Te Uri o Hau' cultural resources and promoting the hapu' kaitiakitanga status.
