Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust 

Notice of Election of Trustee

Waihaua Marae 

I hereby invite nominations for the election of one (1) new trustee to represent Waihaua Marae on the Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust. Nominations must be made on the form available from the Trust's office at 3/5 Hunt Street, Whangarei during the hours of 9:00.A.M. to 4:00.P.M. any business day or on request by phoning Gina Taraisewicz on 021-686-330. Requirements for Trustee eligibility will be provided with the nomination forms.

 

One trustee will be elected from Waihaua Marae. A postal ballot will be held if more than one valid nomination is received. The new trustee will serve two consecutive terms of three (3) years each. According to the Trust Deed, Matiu Wati will automatically be re-elected for a further three (3) year term.

Nominations close 5:00.P.M, Monday 11 November 2019

The Returning Officer will post ballot papers to every adult Te Uri o Hau registered on the beneficiary roll for Waihaua Marae one month after the date nominations close.

Postal elections will close: 12noon, Sunday 11 January 2020

Any Te Uri o Hau 18 years or over may nominate another adult Te Uri o Hau registered with Waihaua Marae and recorded on the Trust's beneficiary roll. The beneficiary roll is open for inspection at the Trust's office at 3/5 Hunt Street, Whangarei during the hours of 9:00.A.M. to 4:00.P.M any business day, office phone 09-459-7001, Adam Taylor.

Results of the 2019 Trustee Elections 

I, Gina Tarasiewicz (Returning Officer) hereby gives notice​ of the results of the election for three new trustees of the Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust, held 24 September 2019.

Henry Holyoake (sole nominee)

Due to the nomination form from a Waihaua marae candidate being misplaced, the election process for that marae is being rerun.

As from 24 October 2019, the trustees of the Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust will be Henry Holyoake and Malcolm Welsh (for Waikaretu marae), Georgina Connelly and Raniera Pene (for Oruawharo marae), Reno Skipper and Albert Shelford (for Otamatea marae), and Matiu Wati (for Waiahaua marae). Antony Thompson will remain as a trustee for Waihaua marae until the election process for that marae is completed.

A candidate may apply in writing for a recount (to the address below) within three working days of the publication of this notice provided that candidate requires less than 50 further votes to be elected.

Result of A.G.M Vote on Amendments to Trust Deed

Following the Annual General Meeting of Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust on 21 September 2019, notice is hereby given of the results of the vote on two (2) proposed amendments to the Trust Deed.

Amendment One: Replace clauses 16.1 and 16.2 with new clause 16. Prohibition on Engaging Trustees. "The Trustees may not engage a Trustee to carry out any task or perform any function for and on behalf of the Trust in any personal capacity including but not limited to employment, contracting, partnership or otherwise". ACCEPTED

Amendment Two: new clause 25.5. "If a person enrolled on the Beneficiary Roll is qualified to belong to more than one Ancestral Marae and wishes to change their Ancestral Marae (as recorded on the Beneficiary Roll), then that person may do so provided that the change is not made during any period which commences on the date that a notice of election of Trustee(s) is given pursuant to clause 5 of the First Schedule of this Deed and expires on the date that the election process to which that notice relates has been completed". ACCEPTED
