Results of Trustee Election Waihaua marae Voting Results 

I, Gina Tarasiewicz (Returning Officer) hereby give notice​ of the results of the election for the election of one (1) new trustee to represent Waihaua marae on the Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust, held 11 January 2020.

The eight trustees of Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust are Henry Holyoake and Malcolm Welsh (for Waikaretu marae), Georgina Connelly and Raniera Pene (for Oruawharo marae), Reno Skipper and Albert Shelford (for Otamatea marae) and Matiu Wati and Antony Thompson (for Waihaua marae).

A candidate may apply in writing for a recount (to the address below) within three working days of the publication of this notice provided that candidate requires less than 50 further votes to be elected.

Hōkai Nuku is the authorised voice of the four Iwi and Hapū mana whenua for the Ara Tūhono Pūhoi to Wellsford Roading projects – namely Ngāti Manuhiri, Ngāti Mauku/Ngāti Kauae of Te Uri o Hau, Ngāti Rango of Kaipara and Ngāti Whātua. Hōkai Nuku was initially formed in 2010 to collaborate on the New Zealand Transport Agency Project, Ara Tūhono and has been contracted by the Transport Agency and Northern Express Group (NX2) to provide specialist advice for the Project.

 

As part of the Ara Tūhono Pūhoi to Warkworth Project, Hōkai Nuku has collected cultural harvest materials. First priority has been given to artworks for the Ara Tūhono Projects. The remainder is available to the Iwi and Hapū members of Hōkai Nuku for cultural use. They will need to be collected at your own cost.

Due to the nomination form from a Waihaua marae candidate being misplaced, the election process for that marae is being rerun.

As from 24 October 2019, the trustees of the Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust will be Henry Holyoake and Malcolm Welsh (for Waikaretu marae), Georgina Connelly and Raniera Pene (for Oruawharo marae), Reno Skipper and Albert Shelford (for Otamatea marae), and Matiu Wati (for Waiahaua marae). Antony Thompson will remain as a trustee for Waihaua marae until the election process for that marae is completed.

Result of A.G.M Vote on Amendments to Trust Deed

Following the Annual General Meeting of Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust on 21 September 2019, notice is hereby given of the results of the vote on two (2) proposed amendments to the Trust Deed.

Amendment One: Replace clauses 16.1 and 16.2 with new clause 16. Prohibition on Engaging Trustees. "The Trustees may not engage a Trustee to carry out any task or perform any function for and on behalf of the Trust in any personal capacity including but not limited to employment, contracting, partnership or otherwise". ACCEPTED

Amendment Two: new clause 25.5. "If a person enrolled on the Beneficiary Roll is qualified to belong to more than one Ancestral Marae and wishes to change their Ancestral Marae (as recorded on the Beneficiary Roll), then that person may do so provided that the change is not made during any period which commences on the date that a notice of election of Trustee(s) is given pursuant to clause 5 of the First Schedule of this Deed and expires on the date that the election process to which that notice relates has been completed". ACCEPTED
